A sojourn is confirmed when the principal has accepted the proposal and paid the deposit specified in that proposal (typically 40% of the total fee). The deposit is non-refundable except in the circumstances described below. The balance is due 60 days before the sojourn begins.
Cancellation more than 90 days before the sojourn: full refund of any amount paid beyond the deposit. Cancellation 60 to 90 days before: 50% refund of the balance. Cancellation fewer than 60 days before: no refund. In exceptional circumstances such as serious illness or a family emergency, the Custodian will consider deferral to a later date without penalty. This is a discretionary decision, made case by case.
If Maya Sojourns cancels a sojourn for reasons within its control (Custodian unavailability, operational failure), the principal receives a full refund of all amounts paid, plus an offer of priority booking for an alternative date. If cancellation is due to force majeure, as described below, the principal receives a full refund or, at their election, a credit for a future sojourn.
If the primary lineage holder is unavailable due to illness, family obligation, or other unforeseen cause, Maya Sojourns will offer either a reschedule or, where possible, an alternative practitioner in the same lineage. If neither is acceptable to the principal, a full refund is provided.
Force majeure includes events beyond the reasonable control of either party: natural disasters, armed conflict, epidemic or pandemic declaration affecting travel, government-mandated travel restrictions, or the closure of specific sites due to causes outside Maya Sojourns' control. In force majeure circumstances, either party may cancel without penalty, and the principal is entitled to a full refund or credit.
