A fixed percentage of every sojourn fee is directed to cultural preservation, documentation, and education programmes connected to the crafts, music and places Maya Sojourns works with. It is built into the operating model, a structural commitment rather than a charitable gesture added after the fact.

The recipients are named in The Ledger each year. The amounts are not published, not to conceal the brand's generosity but because the people involved gain nothing from being quantified that way. A craftsperson's worth to the world cannot be measured by the sum directed toward preserving their work.
