What this website keeps on your device, why, and how to change it. The list below is the real one, taken from the site itself rather than a template.
This website sets no cookies at all. It stores three small values in your browser, one of which exists only to remember what you told us on this page. It sends nothing to any other company. There is no advertising network here, no analytics service, no social media pixel, and no tracking of any kind. The full list is below, and it is the real list, read off the site rather than copied from a template.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on every later visit. Local storage does a similar job, holding a named value in your browser until something clears it, but unlike a cookie it is never transmitted to a server on its own. Both count as storing information on your device, and both are covered by the same rules: the ePrivacy Directive as implemented across the EU and EEA, and the consent requirements of the GDPR.
Under those rules we may store something without asking only when it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything else needs your permission first, and you are free to withhold it or take it back later.
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| maya-consent | Local storage | Essential | Records the choice you made on this page, so we honour it and do not ask again on every visit. Holds a random identifier, the categories you allowed, the date, and the version of this policy you were shown. | Until you clear it |
| maya-theme | Local storage | Preferences | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark reading of the site. | Until you clear it |
| maya-ambient | Local storage | Preferences | Remembers whether you asked for the ambient audio to play. | Until you clear it |
That is the whole of it. No HTTP cookies are set by this site. No third party sets anything here, because no third-party script, font, map, video embed or social widget is loaded on any page. The typefaces are served from our own server for exactly this reason.
If you decline the Preferences category, the light and dark choice and the audio setting still work for as long as the page is open. They are simply not written down, so the site starts from your system preference again next time. We think a switch that changes nothing would be worse than a small inconvenience.
Required for the website to function, and cannot be switched off. Only maya-consent falls here, and its whole purpose is to remember that you told us to leave you alone. Storing it is what lets us honour a refusal.
Used to remember optional settings: the light or dark reading, and the ambient audio. Off unless you turn it on.
Would help us understand how visitors use the website. Nothing in this category is in use today. The site runs no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, and no other measurement service. Should that change, this page will be updated to name the service and its cookies before it is switched on, and it will not run for you unless you have allowed the Analytics category.
Would be used for advertising, campaign measurement and remarketing. Nothing in this category is in use today either. There is no advertising pixel of any kind on this site.
First party means stored by this website, readable only by this website. Everything in the table above is first party. Third party means placed by another company, typically one able to recognise you across many different websites, which is how advertising profiles are built. There is currently no third-party storage on this site, and no request of any kind leaves our own server.
On your first visit you are asked before anything optional is stored. Nothing in the Preferences, Analytics or Marketing categories is switched on in advance, and refusing takes exactly the same single click as accepting. We do not treat scrolling, continued reading, or closing the notice as agreement, because none of those tell us anything about what you actually want.
When you choose, we write your decision into maya-consent and send an anonymous record of it to our server so we can show, if asked, that consent was properly obtained. That record contains a random identifier, the categories, the timestamp and the policy version. It holds no name, no email address, and no IP address, and it cannot be traced back to you.
Use the link, which sits in the footer of every page on this site. Your choices open exactly as you left them, and any change takes effect immediately.
Turning a category off stops anything in it from loading again and clears the related values from your browser. Where a service had already been loaded and had already received something, we cannot reach into that company's systems and unsend it. We say so plainly rather than implying a clean sweep. As things stand this is theoretical, since no such service is in use.
You can also clear everything yourself through your browser settings, usually under privacy or site data. Doing so removes the record of your consent along with everything else, so you will be asked again on your next visit.
Nothing optional is stored. A visitor who never answers is treated exactly as one who refused.
