No photography in sacred spaces, ever, regardless of principal request.
The lineage holders who grant access to Maya Sojourns guests do so under the understanding that their practices will not be turned into content. Photography in a prayer hall, a workshop in active production, or a ritual context transforms the guest from a guest into a documentarian. The tradition responds differently to a camera than to a person. Maya refuses the camera so that the tradition can respond to the person.
No sojourns built around practitioners who have not been verified by the Custodian.
The depth of access a lineage holder offers depends entirely on the depth of the relationship that precedes it. A practitioner the Custodian has not worked with, regardless of reputation, credentials, or willingness, cannot provide the kind of access that a Maya Sojourns sojourn requires. Verification here means years of relationship, not a reference check.
No group sizes above the register maximum.
The register maximums, four for Darshan, two for Antaranga, one for Avarana, are not capacity limits. They are the sizes at which genuine access is possible. A group of twelve visiting a craft workshop becomes an audience. The practitioner's behaviour changes. The access becomes a demonstration. Maya Sojourns does not create audiences.
No itinerary that treats a living tradition as a demonstration or performance.
The tradition determines the experience, not the itinerary. If the dhrupad ustad has a student session scheduled at the time of the visit, the visit waits. If the pichwai painter is in the middle of a commission when the guest arrives, the guest watches the commission being completed, not a demonstration prepared for the visit. The tradition is not paused or adapted for the convenience of the tourist. The tourist adapts to the tradition.
No pricing transparency on the public surface, and why this protects the guest.
Pricing on a public surface would attract the wrong conversation. The guests Maya Sojourns serves are not price-sensitive in the conventional sense; they are seriousness-sensitive. Publishing prices on a website would filter for budget rather than for intent. It would also create an implicit hierarchy in the lineage-holder relationships: practitioners whose sojourns are priced higher would be marketed differently than those priced lower, in ways that would distort the access. Pricing is communicated privately, after An Introduction, in a conversation that has already established seriousness of intent.
No departure dates published, and why scarcity is not manufactured here.
Departure dates are not published because the sojourns are not products with inventory. A sojourn opens when the relationship with the lineage holder is ready and when the season is appropriate. Publishing dates would create the impression that a calendar slot is what determines access, when in fact the relationship is what determines access, and the date follows from the relationship. There is no artificial scarcity. There is the genuine scarcity of real relationships.
What happens when a lineage holder is unavailable: the contingency principle.
Lineage holders are human. They have illnesses, family obligations, and commitments that take precedence over a principal's visit. If the primary practitioner is unavailable, the Custodian has two options: reschedule, or offer an alternative practitioner in the same lineage. Maya Sojourns does not substitute a different tradition for the one that was unavailable. If the Nathdwara pichwai masters are unavailable, the sojourn is postponed, not replaced with a different craft workshop. The guest is informed immediately and given the choice.
