The Himalaya

Bhutan, Spiti, and the high valleys where a painter grinding colour and a monk holding a chant before light are doing the same kind of work. We are readying this country one relationship at a time.

The Himalaya keeps its oldest knowledge at altitude, where the air is thin and the working year is short. In these valleys, craft and contemplation grew up together. A thangka is painted as a prayer. A house is carved as an offering. A length of cloth is woven to a rhythm older than the loom.

None of it was made for visitors, and none of it performs. The doors that matter here open to people who are brought, not to people who arrive.

So we move slowly. When a sojourn in the high country is ready, it will be because a lineage decided the moment was right, and not before.

Nepal and the Spiti valley are in preparation, and will appear here when their first relationships are ready.

At this height, patience is not a discipline you bring. It is the only way anything has ever been made.

If the high country stays with you, a conversation can begin here.
