Anvaya

Anvaya (अन्वय) means lineage, the chain of descent through which a tradition passes from one generation to the next. It also means family, a network of people connected by a common commitment. And it means continuity, the persistence of something through time and across persons.

The name was chosen because Anvaya members are not customers who have purchased repeatedly. They are people who have passed through a sojourn, been changed by it in some way that they recognise, and chosen to remain in relationship with the work. They are, in a small way, part of the lineage, not practitioners but witnesses who understand what the practice holds and who care that it continues.

Priority access and ongoing relationship

Members hear of forthcoming sojourns before they are announced. They receive The Ledger, the annual record of completed sojourns, activated lineages and patronage given. The Antaranga register opens to them, where it does not yet open to a first-time guest. And the Custodian remains a private correspondent, available for requests that fall outside the current calendar.

Membership is annual. The annual fee is communicated privately through the Introduction process.

Anvaya is not purchased. It is offered after a first completed sojourn, when the Custodian feels the relationship is one that should continue. Not every guest receives the invitation. Those who do are people whose attention during the sojourn made it clear that the conversation has further to go.

This is not an exclusive club. It is a small community of people who share a particular kind of attention to the world, and who have demonstrated it in practice.

Anvaya is currently forming. The first cohort of members will be guests who have completed sojourns in the inaugural period of operation. If you are interested in being considered for membership, begin with An Introduction, and the Custodian will note your interest.
